“Girls With Goals Day” Winner
Senator Angela Giron chose Highland Park as the one school in her district that will have the opportunity to participate in the “Girls With Goals Day” 2012. Congratulations to 5th grader Kristyna Arguello for being chosen as our outstanding fifth grade girl! Kristyna will shadow Senator Giron for the morning, have lunch with the Senator, tour the State Capitol, and participate in interactive activities to help her learn how to make her community a better place. In addition, Kristyna will attend a mock session with “bills” the girls will propose themselves.

National Geographic Geography Bee
Highland Park Elementary Annual Geography Bee took place on January 12th 2012. The 4th and 5th grades classes were each represented by one participant. All finalists answered questions composed by the National Geographic Organization. The winner is eligible to enter a regional tournament, pending review of his written exam. Congratulations to all. Thank you to the sponsor, Steve Wright, teachers, and parents for your encouraging students' interest in geography!

Super School News
Congratulations to our Super School News Anchors. Some 5th grade students will be developing a two minute public service announcement for Highland Park. This will be available for viewing in April.
The two anchors met Stacia Naquin anchor of KKTV 11News This Morning and 11News at Noon. She previously served as Morning Anchor/Executive Producer in her hometown of Lawton, Oklahoma for four years.

Sung to Yellow Submarine (Beatles)
In the Town we have our school
Highland Park is SUPER cool.
S U P E and R
Have a meaning for who we are
